California's Proposition 8

BodybyVenus.com employs a small but diverse people -- Democrats and Republicans, conservatives and liberals, religious and non religious, straight and gay -- and as a small company we don't usually take a stand on propositions, however with Proposition 8, we felt we needed to.

Prior to Prop 22, the California Supreme Court explained that "the right to marry is the right to join in marriage with the person of one's choice"

On May 15, 2008 the California Supreme Court, by a vote of 4–3, ruled that the statute enacted by Proposition 22 and other statutes that limit marriage to a relationship between a man and a woman violated the equal protection clause of the California Constitution. It also held that individuals of the same sex have the right to marry under the California Constitution.

Proposition 8 is written with chilling and discriminatory text and introduces more government encroachments on our personal lives.

We view this fundamentally as an issue of equality and hope that Californian's will vote no on Proposition 8 .
